food life update
since mid-summer i have been:
- mostly too tired to dumpster because i've been
- working as a cook five days a week (fun job though... making soups is the best)
- trying to not let the community pantry in our basement collapse
- brewing lots of ginger ale w/housemates
- brewing small batches of exxxtreme soda (first sucess: garlic soda)
- listening to not a lot of music (laptop/ipod = dead, no money for recs)
- reading a lot (anne carson, greek plays, general realtivity, comics)
- making lots of pies (pumpkin)
- eating lots of pies (pumpkin)
- dumpsreting (recently), and making delicious dinners with garbage food
- liking seattle (rain is back, finally)
- wanting to get away from seattle for a bit
- other stuff

said: Garlic soda? Jesus, that is extreme. What's next on your "to make" list?
said: list includes but is not limited to:
- cucumber flavored soda
- kale flavored soda
- broccoli and sesame flavored soda
- salt flavored soda
- clove flavored soda
- alfalfa flavored soda
- pomegranate flavored soda
- antimatter flavored soda
- digital flavored soda
i forget a lot of them though, as i lost the actual list. more ideas are welcome.
the garlic soda tastes really good but smells really terrible. i think the "garlic smell molecule" reacted with something and produced hydrogen sulfide. maybe one of the reasons that garlic soda never took off...
said: Jonah and I have been having pretty good luck on the dumpster tip in PDX of late. Got a six pack holder full of asparagus, bunk of nanners, leeks, rice cakes, cookies, bread, and peppers. New Seasons homie even came out while we were gleaning and was kind and ignored us.
What about Hop soda? I mean, there is already beer and stuff, but the skunky sweet nasdy of hops could be quite nice.
